Default 5th Gen Tweeters

Hey, has anyone installed tweeters on their 5th gen? I know the EX models come with factory tweeters...would aftermarket tweeters fit there too? Easy/Hard?

I know a lot of people drill a hole on the door panel where it curves and put the tweeters there...or on the triangle window sill...just wondering if anyone's done it to the factory dash tweeters? I just don't want to drill any holes.

I have a 5th gen EX with factory tweeters. When I upgraded the audio system I looked into using the existing stock location, but the Infinity Kappa tweeters I have would only fit as a surface mount there, and probably would have looked horrible. If you don't have stock tweeters, I would expect any installation in that area will involve disassembling the entire dashboard - the driver's side is particularly inaccessible. The general recommendation (check out the AUDIO & ELECTRONICS forum) for tweeters is to put them in the door panel. Here is a pic of my installation. It's fairly easy to do, and looks 'factory'.

as far as i know, the tweeters can be installed on the original spots, the cover(grill) just pops out if you use the small flat head screw driver. <- i got this info from the dealer, so i'm pretty sure they know what they were talking about.

yeah, it's true that you need to modify the aftermarket tweeter in order to fit into the spot, you must to strip out the outta plastic and stuff, just bare tweeter is what you need to install in the original spots.

Way too difficult to get into the tweeter location from the top, you'll notice how close the windshield is to the dash, and how the angle makes it so hard. Nobody does it, at least not that I know of.

I'm going to use my now-disabled factory tweeters for my cellphone hands-free kit speakers.

If you wanted to use the stock locations, another wrinkle you may have to consider is the wiring. The stock tweeters are wired in parallel with the woofers in the door. If you are going with components there will be a crossover which requires a different setup.

i put mb quart components up front. the tweeter fit fine in the stock location. i just modified the stock bracket a little. you dont need to disassemble the tweeter or anything. just run new wire from the tweeter to the x-over. i used the factory wiring behind the headunit for the midwoofer

I also installed MB Quartz tweeters in the same place as the factory tweeters. However, my car is an LX. I had the dash out and ended up cutting out the speaker holes with a dremel. Then I purchased a pair of OEM tweeter grills that worked fine. It wasn't hard at all to mount the new tweeters. Looks like stock and sounds great.

Thanks for all the input fellas...did installing the tweeters in the stock position cause a lot of trouble? The angle of the windshield way in those corners seems pretty painful...any tips? Thanks!

By the way, where should I aim tweeters? I noticed the Accord has a lot of dead zones...and one happens to be where the front passengers head normally are (which makes no sense). How about the rear tweeters?

Where did you guys stash the crossovers?
