yeah, it's true that you need to modify the aftermarket tweeter in order to fit into the spot, you must to strip out the outta plastic and stuff, just bare tweeter is what you need to install in the original spots.

If you wanted to use the stock locations, another wrinkle you may have to consider is the wiring. The stock tweeters are wired in parallel with the woofers in the door. If you are going with components there will be a crossover which requires a different setup.
