Default Got red-clear tail lights, are they all sublevel quality?

Hi,

just got red-clear tail lights from procarparts and the left lens is good but the right lens is kind of messed up (see pic). I don't know the company who makes them but they are made in Taiwan.
procarparts guys were nice to me and offered full refund after checking their stock and finding out that all Right lenses are mis-shaped the same way.

My question is this: are all red-clear tails made like this or I just got a bad batch? Are there any manufacturers I should stay away from?

Thanks!

Only good quality is OEM and TYC. All others are sublevel.

As long as they don't fog up which can be prevented with some silicon minute flaws like that shouldn't matter.

I got mine from the same site about 2 years ago or so.

I never noticed anything messed up about mine, so I went out and took some pics.

There is a slight wrinkle where the clear meets the red, but it is inside the light (the outer seam in the color transition is perfectly straight).

Also you can only see it at certain angles.

My driver side one was perfect.

Here's my pics...excuse the filthy car. Winter and salt suck.

It looks like your defect is worse than mine...mine is small enough that I never noticed it, and now even after looking at it, it doesn't bother me.

You can't tell at all from more than a couple feet away:

Hope that helps a little.

must also take into the fact that these are AFTERMARKET so means its ment to look good but not with the quality of oem. so there may be small details etc that will not look right etc.

Hey, thanks guys!

I also have a problem inside the lens, the outside is good except for a few air bubles visible at the clear piece seam.

jschmid, appreciate your pix, it's a mess with salt here in NYC also h:

I guess you had better luck with you lights and you are right, you can't see it from certain angles and a few feet away so I guess I am keeping my lenses but only if they feet now!

And should I just put silicone all over the seams now or should I wait till I see any condensation inside?

Any way to seal area around bulb?

Thanks

No problem.

I never put any additional silicone on. Never had any fogging. I wouldn't recommend trying to seal around the bulb.

One tip for the install. 3 out of the four pieces fit great. One piece...when I tightened up the nuts in the back, the tail light would seat too far. I just used a couple rubber washers to space it back out where it should be, worked fine. I'd pick up a couple before you install them just in case you need a couple.
