A friend has a '92 Coupe. He bought it when it was a couple of years old. He spends next to nothing on the car, hardly ever washes it, and the car just keeps going and going. To top it off, I think he's a crappy driver - he's been in a few dumbass fender-benders - in fact, the reason he bought the 4th gen was because he totalled his 3rd gen in a single-car/lost control accident (summer, highway, no traffic). But despite the chronic neglect, the car still looks good for its age.

I bought my 5th gen V6 last summer. Several 'non-car' people have asked me if it's a 2000 or 2001 model. It just looks that new and fresh. I was unaware of the difference at the time, but the V6 model has a much more aggressive look than the 4 cyl's. Honda stretched the front end in order to fit in the V6.

I like the 4th and 5th gen Accords, and would be happy with either one. If it came down to a choice between two specific cars, I'd pick the one that was in the best condition. Honda hit a high mark with the 4th gen style - the coupe has lines that will look good forever. To my eyes, the 6th gen went too far down the Toyota road. When I was shopping for a car last year, for the same money I could have got a 6th gen 4-banger, but the 5th gen EX V6 appealed to my decadent side. It's a near-luxury car. The Legend motor is not particularly strong, but it's as smooth as glass and will pull the car over 130 mph. If you like fast highway driving more than street thrashing...

Well, I've made my choice (sorry to you hardcore style guys)...I'm getting THE WAGON!!

Click for a pic

As long as it checks out with the mechanic in a couple hours. Only things about it that I know of are: there's a bad buzz if you're coasting (slowing down) between 2k and 3k rpm...the dealer and I figured out it is the baffles in the muffler, so that needs replacing. Also, the tape deck doesn't work. But it wouldn't matter, I've been planning to replace whatever comes with the car with a factory Honda CD player off of ebay. Also, the car is at 90K miles, which means the timing belt is due for replacement. Think I could do it myself? heh heh

Plus exterior looks i think 4th gen wins cause 5th gen they tried to go for a more roundish look and it wasn't working for me. The 4th gen tail lights are debatable, 92-93 looks better but i have 90-91 with the trunk lights shaved and i like that better then both stock variations. Its up to you and what you want/like. I personally would never give up an IS, such a beautiful stunningly fast car with luxury to boot.
got more pics of ur car...did u get the whole thing repainted?

Those prices seem kinda high... I got my '95 Coupe for 5.9K with 120k miles.. Maybe they aren't that high though...

It shouldn't be too hard to not modify it. After having the IS, nothing short of a turbo would make this car move as quickly. I used to have an '86 Accord, and I lowered it and did the wheels and the exhaust and the tint and the bluish-white headlights and all that...and I guess now I feel like it's putting a dress on a pig. This car doesn't have that much power, and I don't even care. Plus, the reason I'm getting out of the IS is money. Why would I throw away money on trying to make a cheaper car like the expensive one I used to have? If you don't feel me, that's cool. I'm an atypical Honda enthusiast.

"- Heater control cables can pull out so heat doesn't work... This IMO is the worst problem in my car... As of now my knob is too hard to turn so the plastic on the back of the knob that goes around the metal shaft cracked... So you cant tell its broken, but when I want to change Temp. (twice a year ), I have to whip out the needle nose plyers. Either way I hear it isn't expensive to fix... I just don't care that much."

same problem here man.......I also have just gotten my CV joints and bearings replaced not pleased but tons more quiet
