installation prices, this a bargain?

Hey bro, intake is one of the easiest mods you can do to your car, not only is it easy, but you will have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. I can't speak for everyone, but I get a sense of satisfaction and enjoyment out of modding my car myself, even more so when I do something that I've never done before. So far I have done my intake, modded my oem tails to be red/clear, black housing headlights, complete stereo system, lowered, brakes, tune up and changed my manual tranny fluid. None of this stuff I had ever done before, but I have common sense and know how to use tools so it wasn't a problem. Honestly though, I just helped on the brakes, I didn't actually do them myself, my boy did, same for lowering, I just helped. But I replaced my hood, fender by myself.
As for a CAI DIY on our forum, if somebody hasn't done it yet, I will, I just installed mine about 2 weeks ago so it's fresh on my brain
I personally think $750 to install and paint ur kit is a bit much, but if you have the money and they are giving you the guarantee and that makes you feel better, go for it.

thanks for the reply man. but i got a question, when the CAI is installed, is it visible from the wheel well? like is it exposed, kuz when i called for estimates, they all ask if i got a bypass valve, wich i don't care for, being the fact that i'm not gonna drive in deep puddles. but i'm considering doing it myself as long i got sumthin i can understand cause the instructions were kind of misunderstandable.

you just invented a word
Back on topic now, no, you can't see the intake from the wheelwell, it is behind the fender lining. What kind of car you got? I have a 5th gen Accord and can help you if you need some. I just did mine a couple weeks ago w/no directions and I had never done one before so it's very easy mang.
for 5th gens you do not need to remove the bumper, but you do need to remove the fender lining on the pasenger side. Removing the wheel isnt necessary, but it makes things a lot easier, or even jacking up the side gives a bit more room.
You need a phillips screwdriver for the fender lining and some patience. You need sockets/ratchet or wrenches to remove the resonator and stock intake. A flathead for the hose clamps.
did I miss anything?
follow the instructions carefully, the only hard steps are probably getting the resonator out, and figuring out which lines to cap and move around.

750 to paint install a kit sounds right to me. Hope the shop does quality work. We charge 50 an hour for fitment work so 6 hours to prep a kit correctly and and make it fit perfect then about 400 for paint sounds about right (considering wings west charges 450 to paint a kit) but for 750 it better come out perfect.

ay 94uhkord i took your advice and installed the CAI myself..........i gotta say it was easy if i just took my time and read the instructions and look at my engine( i didn't do that earlier). thanks for giving me the courage to do it myself, also, i bought a tool set with the 75.00 dollars i was gonna use for the installation. now i got a 122 piece craftsman :blue:
oh by the way, my engine sounds different, like when i turn it on, you can hear the airflow, then when i punch it it sounds loud and throttley, that the way it's soppose to sound? and it seems my car accelerates faster.................that right?
