Oh yeah. If you clean your engine with a wet cleaner (as opposed to foam), definitely, cover your distributor cap and wires with plastic. Replace that cap and the rotor and make sure it's sealed real tight. If water's been getting in there for awhile, you probably have some corrosion on the contacts. Don't bother cleaning it, by the way, if it's leaking, it's either warped (not sealing) or slightly cracked. Replace that cap.

I had a new O2 sensor installed last year.

I've got a feeling it is water in the distributor. Today it was really raining hard and this problem happened a lot today. Also, I was talking to a guy with a 92 accord and he had the same problems and that's what it turned out to be. I suspect I got water in there during an engine cleaning.

No, my timing has not been adjusted.

ok... I'm pretty sure a wet distributor cap is not the problem.

this thing looks dry as a bone. I did find a couple other things tho:

improperly seated intake snorkel
ungrounded groundwire? bolt missing?

Only thing I can figure is the boys at honda left that wire off when they did my timing belt. I fixed the snorkel but I don't have the proper bolt to put the wire back on. Should I call honda and complain? I also found a rag under the hood after the timing belt job. WTF?

I've heard some crazy things happening with that paticular ground wire not hooked up. I'd defiently get a blot and put that back on because it's a possibility that could be your problem.

it hasn;t stumbled since I put the snorkel back on properly but it has only been a day or so. If it doesn;t happen within a week I think it's safe to say it is gone.

no... it is still doing this. I have a friend who is a honda mechanic who suspects it is a faulty contact in tthe distributor. I am waiting for him to take a look at it.

My friend has told me that it is a faulty primary oxygen sensor that is to blame. I had my 02 sensor replaced back in oct 2001 which is about how long I have been having the problem. I plan I having it replaced and will let you know if it cures it.
