Default Accord Sound System Advice?

I have recently purchased a 2003 Accord Coupe EX V6 non-navi. I started out by replacing the stock 6 1/2's and 6x9's with higher quality Alpine speakers. These speakers are much clearer and hit the mids and highs quite well but still don't have quite the bass punch I'm looking for, and I would like to hook up a wiring kit and install an amplifiar/subwoofer if possible. I am new to this so my question will be, with the stock head unit will I be able to wire this vehicle up for an aftermarket amplifiar/subwoofer because replacing the head unit would be expensive and a procedure I would prefer not to do. Hopefully someone with experience in this will see this post and be able to tell me if my system is compatible to be wired up for a Sound System.

You should be able to i guess, even though i do not know why you would. Head units aren't terribly expensive and if you are wanting a good quality amplifier, subs, etc etc. you will already be spending some money. You midas well buy a head unit since you are going to be spending the money anyway, plus i dont know where the remote wire for the amplifier would be in the back of a stock head unit.... ive never looked so it may be there, but idk! i highly, highly suggest an aftermarket head unit!

I would have no problem with replacing it aside from the fact that it is a large screen in the dash and also contains my climate controls.

I'm curious if it does have a remote turn on wire for the amp from the factory head unit. I've wanted to do this as well, and keep the factory head unit for it does have all the climate control options on the screen; there is no point in having two head units installed in the car.

you can use the lower compartment for your new deck if you wish. check out metra as they are the only ones to offer a dash kit for that car that is perfect fit. The remote turn on wire for that deck is YELLOW/GREEN

I presume you are talking about the yellow/green wire on the factory unit, which is connected to the window antenna coil?

Default Subwoofer on factory deck

If your only looking to add some bass to the system I would say a factory deck would work just fine. Is you were using a high quality four channel to run your speakers then you might run into some weak signal/poor sound quality issues.

You would have to find out what wire going to the factory deck is the 12v. Or you could run it to the stereo fuse in the car's fusebox. To run an amplifier off from your factory stereo you will need a line output converter. This will create a signal for your amplifier to amplify(Taps into the factory harness and creates 2 RCA outputs.) Another option would be to get an amplifier with high level inputs and run the speaker wires from your rear speakers to the amplifier.

yeap, test the wire to make sure. connect your volt meter to ground and the pos wire to the remote wire. this wire will show 12v only when the radio is turned on.

Default Power Cable...

I'm almost done doing the sub install to the factory deck with a converter, but I'm trying to figure out what is the best/easiest location for the power cable to go through the firewall. Any suggestions? I cannot fiind any spare locations.

Thanks
