i have a 98, with the pioneer units i have found with all the instalations i have done the best is to run the ipod to the glove box, and then jsut control it with the head unit itself, its alot cleaner of a look then haveing it bounceing around in the pocket and haveing to drill the pocket and have the wire hanging out

I ended up using my dremel to put a hole in the back of the dash kit and run the cable into the cubby hole. I only pulled enough cable through to be able to hook up my iPod so it's not hanging out all over the place.

I'll take a picture tonight but so far I'm loving it. The cubby hole with the dash kit is made to hold cds so it has fins. This keeps the cable down when it's tucked back there and also securely holds the iPod. It's really not noticeable even with the iPod in there. The glove box is a good idea but I wasn't too keen on drilling a hole for it. Also, for me, it's a lot easier to connect/disconnect the iPod when it's in the cubby as opposed to in the glove box. My iPod always goes with me so for ease of connect/disconnect, this is ideal.

As I said, thanks to everyone for their advice on this.

yeah i work in car audio
and like some people said you can go with a regular deck and you will get a pocket dash kit that will fill up the entire space and the wire goes from the back, what we usually do is just run the ipod cable from the back of the deck to the glove box cuz you dont even use the ipod when you have it running on your deck you control everything off the deck ie: files folders and artist ect...
also to for the double-din it looks more vip since most high end cars have them and on the alpine ida-w205a we do the same thing run the ipod cable from the deck to the glove box since it has the same features as the regular cd deck and it is even more practical since it is touch screen...
some dvd touch screens you should stay away from(not bashing them it is my opinion) are pioneer, jensen, dual(made by jensen) and sony xplode
clarion is good but not very user friendly
also kenwood is good too
like i said i am not bashing the other ones for you out there that have them but i am a huge alpine fan always have been
