100,000 warranty
hey guys,
i have an 03 Accord with a v2 intake. I recently received a hondaween free 40 pt inspection card from local dealership. I have 100,000 mile drive train warranty. will the V2 intake void my warranty? should I take it out before I go in for the 40pt inspection??

Um anything that changes the factory performance and how the car works will void the warranty. Including an intake and exhaust. You are pushing the car beyond the recommended limits therefor they will use that as an excuse to void your warranty. Yes take it out before you go see them.
The intake will only void your warranty if a problem can be directly blamed on the intake...such as you hydrolocking, MAF, TPS, and maybe even your variable intake manifold (if you have a V6). Any knowledgable service department will not go to lengths to "blame" your intake because they will get reimbursement from Honda anyway, but intakes can cause several problems that shouldn't be waranteed. But obviously they can't blame the intake on a power steering pump leak or a brake caliper sticking.
That's quite possibly the stupidest thing ever said on this forum, and that's saying a lot.

I think that I will call the dealer and ask if having an intake will void my warranty. This way I can find out if they are cool or butt skittles. I have 40,000 still on my warranty and I don't want void it especially since it is an auto, V6, and anything could happen in with in that time frame..

yeah.. Knowledgeable! I am in central IL and the owner/dealer was a buzzard about fixing my armrest when I was under 50k.. makes me worry that they will be the same way later. Protect my jewels.
Thanks for the insight about the hydrolock and the possible killers of having an intake. peace

But from my experience Honda can AND WILL void your warranty for any mechanical modification.
I took my car for warranty service because I was burning oil due to a worn piston ring seal. THe motor only had about 80K miles at the time.
They acknowledged there was a worn ring seal, but because of my short ram intake rufesed to do warranty service.
Also, a friend of mine had tranny problems on his 6th gen V6, but his warranty was voided because his car was lowered 1.5 inches.

Realistically speaking that's true. The only time a warranty should be voided is if there is obvious driver neglect or a direct cause-N-effect issue.

About the piston ring seal, I can believe that. An aftermarket air intake system puts you at risk of poorer air filtration which can lead to excess ring wear. I would have done the same thing.
