code 1457 evap
i had a CEL, took the car in and it was code 1457. the guy there said he tested it and the evap purge valve was bad.
I just got one at the JY. installed it. and just for s&g I tested the old one with a 12v battery. to my suprise it clicks just fine!?!?!
am I missing something? I'll have to drive it for a few days hopefully the CEL doesnt come back on with this other valve, for whatever reason
im confused

I have seen cvs bad and bypass go bad both would trow a canister side code.IF it was tank side a loose cap can cause that or a hole in the tank or orvr leak.I have also seen a lot of under side damage punching holes in the canister.
If worse comes to worse smoke test it and see if it has any external leaks.
The code will take a wile to come back on if their is a problem it is a 2 trip code. The enabled criteria is cold and a fresh start up + a lot more.
A leaking cvs, bypass, and a hole in the canister will give the same code.
Give it 4-5 cold morning start ups to tell.

im crossing my fingers lol
im kinda suprised it would throw a code if the valve didnt hold vacuum. i would of thought it could only detect a fault in the solenoid itself (if it wasnt able to open at all) instead of something more specific like that
obd2.. amazing lol
