Default Sign of Bad Transmission?

Hi,
I have 99 honda accord,4 cyl, EX model. Recenty I started to go to another school and on my way to school there is long uphill road which i have to take every day. I usually use D3 when on road like this. Yesterday I was speeding on the uphill road ( around 80 mph), my rpm going around 3500 to 4000, then i changed D3 to D4, but the rpm ramain the same around 4000. In normal road condition, when i change D3 to D4, the rpm goes below 3000. But in this case is it didn't change. Is It a a sign of a bad transmission? or is it normal for a car when going uphill in that speed. Anyone have any idea what it might be?

since your still going up the hill the tranny was probably still in third gear.
Speed login control or something like that.

He means that it's normal for it to stay in the lower gear. It won't shift to the higher gear for as long as your climbing a hill regardless if you put it in D4 or not.

Thanks guys, I am feeling much better. I am not in a position buy a new trans. at this point of my life. Hope my trans. won't die on me. Thanks again all for posting.

Bill.
