I have a purrrty rust spot developing on that section of hood, not to mention about half the paint is taken off from rock chips :happysad:

It never even would have occured to me to wax on the underside of the hood. And also taking off the spoiler and waxing near the mounts. But that's where the rust is coming in

 

That's not wax, that's dust from lack of use

I don't wax under my hood either.

 

I have a hose nozzle attachment I like to call the elephant trunk, it's a piece of rubber tubing - with a small bead inside - that can be bent to control the flow of water. I think ACE hardware sells them. Griot's Garage use to sell them but no longer it would appear.

I don't cover anything, I just direct light streams of water where need be and scrub with a tooth brush as needed. And quick detailer as needed. Then don't ever drive your car in the rain and stuff stays clean

 

i stuck my ballasts a foot behind my headlight assemblies, kinda where the fenders are. then again mines a 7th gen and i dont know if you have the same amount of space. and to secure it i rubbed down the surface w/ some rubbing alcohol and used some tough double-sided tape. no problems thus far.

 

Yeah I know you're not waxing your bumper reinforcement I'm just saying, to avoid rust I would have had to wax underneath the hood.

 

Here's what you need to do, they sell small sand-paper like q-tips. I think Griot's even sells them. Sand away the rust spot (it's surface any how) and then touch up paint the area. Tadah! No more rust.

And you can feel good about the car again
