heh i called and talked to em about a year ago on it all...and i said screw it cause for $700, plus teh cost of pistons, rods, balancing...i could have an h22 swap and not be concerned about it all.
i guess it all depends on who you talk to you. I called and asked about custom grind cams, and they bounced me around to a few people....then they started asking what engine it was for, and then they asked what specs i would want and so on...when they told me the price my jaw hit the floor....so i told em i would call back with specs...cause it wasnt worth it to me. It all stands out though cause if the price...

I guess to me I find it more appealling to have a built F23 for the reason that I can just unbolt the old engine and unplug the harness(es) and bolt together a swank engine and place it back in the car with out fear of some goofy connectory falling causing weeks of wire chasing. I'd really like to attempt this but the parts to build an F22 not alone an F23 are slim to none. And since my car is my daily driver I'd prefer to wait out and see if someone else will do this first. I'd rather not boldly go into the next frontier blind. I can't believe more people won't attempt a built F-series. Seriously for 2000-3000 grand you should be able to build a killer F. not many people drop more then that on engine mods generally for an Accord and in the end you'd have around 200hp on effectly a very smooth running and freshly built block. Hard to say that about the many JDM H22 since most come over with unknown mileage. Well I'm obviously the minority on this subject.

i expect costs to be over $3000 since so much of it is new and custom, and you will be dealing with reliability issues initially.
with lots of machine work (balancing and head porting/polishing) im sure an F23 could run even or better than an h22 when it comes to peak power...but I dont think that it will have as even a power band and will tend to be very peaky...though less so than a non vtec engine.
when i did all my research i was looking at:
$700+ for a new cam
unknown cost for valve retainers and springs to be able to use the cam to its full extent.
$700 for rods
$500 for custom compression ration pistons.
$1200+ for head machine work and assembly, also included port matching on the intake side.
then add in the little things like balancing it all, and bearings, and gaskets etc...
i also figured a lightweight flywheel ($300+), header ($300 more), larger injectors ($350+), and other little things (adj fpr and so on, at least another few hundred)
plus the assembly of the engine...i can drop it in jsut fine and go....but getting it together i dont trust that i have the skill to do it all perfect. anyway the cost i figured i needed to aim for was about $5000 to do it right....

thats something diffrent. Its a change from those swaps and forced induction. I dont know if your going to race or just be diffrent but I dont think Accords were really built to go that "fast" Good luck though , tell us how it turns out.

Your number look pretty good.
I'd likely for go the pistons since it it just NA.
Machine work is the bang for the buck--getting block punched and honed.
New pistons
Then getting crank turned and balanced to w/ stock rods.
Should be okay.
Figure 1000.00 for Port and polish head.

I'd due all the assembly my self since I'm into that and I figured around 3000-4000 grand assuming I used my current engine and didn't source a new core. I didn't include headers or that because I was going for the sleeper look and figured I'd just port the stock exhaust manifold.

I also assumed the NA route would not produce much over 50-60hp so I also ruled out needing new injectors or any of that.
Basically it was a complete build-up of the engine to maximize its balance, compression, and head flow since Honda I/E are pretty good stock in most application 15hp is not hiding in these areas on a 4cyl honda.

The cam is really the achilies heel of the whole set up since no company is currently offering a cam that will be NA streetable for an Accord. This project is kinda in limbo for now.

Well i just called my mechanic, he can get my enigne port and Polished for under 700 and I am talk to a few other people for the pistons and etc. I am going to to turbo. it may take a while to get there but better late then never. I just might buy another whole f22b1 and work on that engine so I can drive my car around now.
