Default manually shift auto

hello, recently ive been manually shifting my auto, and, to my surprise, i have gotten better gas milage. keep in mind though that this is only between two fillups, and other factors could have cause the gas milage change. but I would think that i would get worse gas milage because when i shift myself, i stay in higher rpm's more than the auto. oh well, just thought id post my find.

Yeah I wouldn't do that too much. Honda says in their manuals that you can do it, but if you want to keep the car for awhile just leave it be. It's faster to leave it in drive, then to go through the gears yourself.

haha i was trrying to do the same thing when i had a 4th gen... lasted a whole lot longer than what these people are saying... but after around 3 months it didn't sit in gear correctly when trying to go from reverse back into gear hehe... the imbalance only lasted a couple of seconds tho.... never ruined the tranny but totalled the car bc of something totally unrelated which brings up my next point.. be careful driving...

If Honda says you can do it in the manual, you can do it. They're the most conservative assholes you've ever seen.

I dunno how it is for 4gens, but thats the way it is for 6gens. I doubt you got better gas mileage too...im sure it had more to do with driving habits.

I did the whole manual shifting thing from the start, and my tranny busted at 17k miles. Honda repaired it under warranty. Again I continued to manually shift until I powdered my tranny at 39k miles. Honda completely replaced my tranny. You be the judge. 2000 accord, 4cyl, 3 trannies. Don't manual shift if you don't want to ruin your tranny.

Shockingly, you didn't learn after the first time.
