While I might agree that Accords have gone up a little the last few years, consider what you are getting for the price: drive by wire technology, progressive illumination for the instrument cluster, LED tail lamps.... all features standard on every Accord which, untill now, were previously only available in high end luxury cars.

I agree also. I drove a 2006 Camry LE back in early November. What a plain car. Judging by the seats, I would have thought I was in a cheap (Chrysler) mini-van or a Chevy Lumina. The inside was so plain I thought I might be in a Ford Ranger or mini-van.

What a joke. If someone thinks they are better off in a lower priced Camry, more power to them. I imagine re-sale value on a Camry is much lower than an Accord, too.

BTW, we bought our fully loaded 2005 EX-L right before Katrina, but right when gas hit $2.55 and paid $22,900.

Price a piece of junk Chevy, Ford, or Chrysler and consider re-sale of any of them after 4 years is $2,500 and the average 4 year old Accord goes for $12,000. Around here, you can buy 2005 Taraus' for $11,000. I imagine the sticker on them was around $23,000.

if pricing is a concern, there is always public transportation.

If honda is introducing the civic as their luxury line then I soon see Hyundai cars as the next Lexus.

I don't think they are too pricey, you need to compare options to options.
I purchased a my '00 Coupe new in March-'00. Sticker was about $21k, that was a new EX-5spd. Cloth seats, PW, PD, alloys, etc.

Now look at the current model LX-SE, wow. Aside from a few options, it's a very simaliar equipped car. Likely has better safety features and so on, plus you get the automatic 5spd (+ more HP) which may be a boon to many for the sticker price. I think those are around $22k? (If I recall an auto in '00 was about the same exact price.)

Given that this is 6-years later, I find the prices to be very fair.

And the used market is even better, we picked up our '04 TSX in Dec. '04 w/ 6000mi on it CPO for under $24k, wow--choices choices choices.

Default Its all in packaging

Its all in packaging, altho we were originally talkin about an Accord V6, but the bad thing is that when yu are in the V6 model range sorry to say yu cant have it packaged as you want to met yur exact needs and how much yu want to spend. If you want a soonroof, yu have to have this optin package also, blah blah, IE sunroof, rear spoiler and premium audio, permavine etched glass, upgraded keyless entry and so on. that adds 2000 to wut yu expect. If you want cloth seat yu have to get, package 2 or wutever they call itwhich yu get splash gaurds, but no deck lid spoiler and automatic, if yu want 6MT yu have to get leather , which ...yu have to shell out almost 5000 more. They have things coverd no matter how yu look, yull have to pay.Oh and yeah Hyundai is trying to make that leap, theey want to bring their big rear driver to the USA ive heard, they sold the old model here sparringly as the Estate , but have a new model with a modified Mitsubishi sourced V8 like the old model, but will a 30,000 plus Hyundai fly in the USA?

I think Accords and Camrys are reasoanbly priced. I mean, granted, you want fully loaded - yeah, you will pay 30K+, but I got my very nice LX 4 cyl auto for 18,500 and that is not bad in my view.

Accords/Nissans/Mazdas in Europe are over 30K (same car group, but 22% and up taxes).

So, we have it pretty good here believe me....

Well, considering that a 1993 Honda Accord SE stickered in the mid 20s some 13 years ago, and my nicely loaded 06 EX-L stickered for 25.5, I don't see where that has been much of a price increase when you compare the new to the old. My 96 Accord EX (w/cloth) stickered for 22k, which is on par w/ a new 4-cyl. EX equipped w/ cloth that stickers for around 22-23k. IMO, you get a lot more car for that price today than you did back then.

Furthermore, navigation systems, heated seats, dual zone climate controls, side curtain airbags, steering wheel mounted controls, 6-disc in dash changers, etc. were simply not available. Now, you get all of these features plus the improvements in engineering and technology that have been made through the years for not a whole lot more than what you would've paid for an Accord 15 years ago.
