I used to only put 92 in my honda, asked about it here.

I recently filled up with 87 instead and I swear my car is happier.

87 is the minimum octane level required for the engine.

**IMPORTANT**

You only need to meet the minimum octane requirements for the engine. Putting in fuel with an octane rating that is HIGHER than the minimum is NOT going to help you. It will only hurt you unless you manually advance the ignition timing of your engine to compensate for the different characteristics of the higher octane fuel.

Wow, 1998 with only 19K on it? And I thought my 1999 with 24,827 on it was low.

no, the cleanliness of the fuel depends on where your gasoline is bought, Chevron, Shell, Mobil, 76, etc.

Octane level and cleanliness are two totally separate things.
