Gas Grade?
Sup guys, i just picked up a 98 accord ex 4 cylinder stick shift. with 19,000 miles on it. It didnt come with the owners manual or anything. I was wondering what type of gas grade does it take?

No gained benefits in performance? Or really none at all? How about for a 95 Accord? I've always had the notion that octane = burns easlier = good? I usually fill with 89...am I wasting my money?
I might be imagining things, but I sometimes feel that 89 lasts longer than 87. I don't know, a lot of factors go into fuel economy. There is definately no gain from higher octanes. Do a search, there have been many discussions on actual tests.
Accord's are designied specifically for 87 octane. Putting in higher octane fuel will give no benefit. In fact, it might even REDUCE your performance. So stick with 87. This is what happens when you put premium fuel in an Accord V6. Same thing would happen with 4-bangers old and new as well...

Performance LOST by using higher octane fuel:
4 fwhp peak
10-15 fwhp through the mid-range.
Stick with 87 if you have an Accord
Who told you this?
That's not true.

i was also informed that it was actually bad for your engine to switch octanes. so once you start with something, stick with it!

btw, 87 is fine for out f22's.

switching octanes in not bad for our cars. for our odessey, we switch from 87-91 all the time. 87 for daily driving, 91 for highway. the odessey v6 has a sensor that detects higher octane, so it makes more power on premium
