any ideas? my first thought was the axels.

Could struts be the problem? I paid to have both axles replaced and they are starting to click again. They're under warranty, so I'll be taking the car in, but I'm wondering if after 120,000 miles, it's time to pony up for some struts to minimize the stress on the CV Joint. Sound right? Any other ideas? Sway bar?
Even with blown shocks the steering knuckle is held in the proper geometry. So that doesn't stress the axle or CV joint.
If your ball joints are falling apart or your alignment is so far off, that might do it. Or if your engine mounts are sagging, that would disturb the position of the inboard end of each axle.

You don't really have to jack up the car. Just turn the steering all the way over towards the side you want to look at. Get next to the fender & look at the inboard side of the front wheel. The drive axle comes out of the center, with a rubber bellows. That's the boot we're talking about.
i've just noticed that my right boot is ripped. not sure what caused it but i had the tie rod replaced last week. probably the mechanic ripped it
. i'll go and check with him soon. btw, can i just simply glue the ripped boot using a super-extra-hold glue? do you guys think it would work?
