Even with blown shocks the steering knuckle is held in the proper geometry. So that doesn't stress the axle or CV joint.

If your ball joints are falling apart or your alignment is so far off, that might do it. Or if your engine mounts are sagging, that would disturb the position of the inboard end of each axle.
