I say if you drive good, have kept up with normal stuff, then go ahead and wait a little while. Of course visual inspection of the belt doesn't help because when you pull it I understand it's still suppose to look good.
If it breaks though, you've got a 1:17 chance of being able to save your engine. Matter (or in this case valves) cannot occupy the same space (in this case the pisons) at the same time. I had a friend with a 91 Civic Si who's t-belt shredded, he was so lucky that all of his valves were neatly tucked out of the way.

I have done all the maintenance on this car since I bought it new. That should probably help. The timing belt and water pump is next on my list. Does not make me that nervous that there are people who have taken the car past the 100K mark to replace the timing belt.
I will plan on doing this probably right at the 100K mark which should be about 5 months from now.
1994 Accord lx,I went to a guy in a gas station that seemed knowledgeable , We made a "cash deal" that he would change the timing belt , water pump , A/C belt and serpantine belt and anything else he finds for $475 in cash. I left the car and returned about 6 hours later and he was done. He said he also changed the valve cover gasket (which I can see) and I can also see the outer belts have been changed .
Is there a easy way to make sure he changed the water pump, timing belt and thermostat?

I got mine done for $150.The only way of knowing is to have asked him to give you back the old things. For $475 you might as well have gone to the Honda dealership, they always have specials on timing belt/water pump service.
did he show u the old belts seals water pump etc...? and u made sure he use original honda parts or better?
i did mine at 70k instead of doing it at 90k, i had the money at the time so why not.
last yr i was n a friends car down in atlantic city and the ac belt broke and the timing was about to go, in fact the ac belt was broken and flew over to the timing belt and it got stuck in there heh lucky i look under the hood because the ac wasnt working right and discover the soon to be nightmare. he drives a 97 acura with 65k original owner. next day he had the acura dealer change all belts seals water pump and do a tune up also check suspension and he even got 4 new wheels, everything was about $1100. the car now rides just like new again
