Default Question on Timing belt replacement

The owners manual says replace at 105K miles where as my dealer says 90K. Should I push it to 100-105K or is it not worth it. I am at 95K now and need to plan for this big expense.

Any suggestions?

well if one place tells you 100 and the other 90k why not just meet them half way and change it at 95k.

no matter what you have about 10k miles to go anyway so might as well start saving up.

I am already saving for this and planning to do this at about the 100K mark. It is about $600 -$700 because the dealers recommended replacing the water pump too. I am just checking with other Honda owners to see if anyone has pushed it to 100K.

I pushed mine to 100k on my 96LX. I wouldn't recommend it. When I took it off and looked it over, I felt aweful lucky it didn't break b/c of all the dry-rot / cracking, but I am sure that someone else will tell ya they took theirs off at 200k and it was fine...depends on the enviroment(s) that you drive in.

Before 1990, it was every 60,000. 1990-1997 it was every 90,000. 98-02 its every 105,000. 03+ its every 105 or 110,000 depending on I4 or V6.

I pushed mine to about 120,000 before I changed mine.

I also did the water pump and something else.

I hit VTEC at least 5x on the daily even after 95k/105k+

The interval IS 105k. It can probably go till 150k. Start saving now so that by the time it NEARS 105k you can just do it. I also recommend replacing teh water pump. At 105k, you don't want to have to do a water pump before your next timing belt. A water pump job will cost just about as much as a timing belt job. The only difference in price being the cost of the timing belt.
