If it breaks though, you've got a 1:17 chance of being able to save your engine. Matter (or in this case valves) cannot occupy the same space (in this case the pisons) at the same time. I had a friend with a 91 Civic Si who's t-belt shredded, he was so lucky that all of his valves were neatly tucked out of the way.

I have done all the maintenance on this car since I bought it new. That should probably help. The timing belt and water pump is next on my list. Does not make me that nervous that there are people who have taken the car past the 100K mark to replace the timing belt.

I will plan on doing this probably right at the 100K mark which should be about 5 months from now.
