Default Clutch wear....

I was wondering if there was any way to tell how much life a clutch has left. Like if buying a used car and trying to figure out if the clutch is still like 75% life left or 50% life left and such....

anyone know??

Thanks

There SHOULD be a way based on the throw-out lever. For example, as the clutch wears out, the T-O lever gets closer & closer to the slave cylinder. When it gets within xxx distance then your clutch is about gone. My Saabs have had this kind of measurement listed in the shop manuals, but I've never seen anything like that for Honda.

My M3 has a self adjusting clutch so the test I do is...put the car in 4th gear while completely stopped...drop the clutch completely. A car with a good clutch should stall immediately...if the clutch is worn, the car will take some time to stall...it will sputter and kind of move forward a little...meaning the clutch is slipping and not grabbing immediately...I guess this won't tell you exactly how much life is left in the clutch but it might give you an idea of what condition it's in. From my experience (Have owned 3 Acura Integras), Honda's oem clutches are pretty weak so it's something to definitely look at if you're looking at a used Honda/Acura.
