Yes, hence the lighter viscosity in winter...it's 0W-30. Personally, I don't take many short trips, so I prefer heavier oil. I want optimal engine protection when my engine is warm. But like Chad said, I doubt 0 weight would really make much of a difference. It's all theoretical anyway.

In my 02 Camry I switched to synthetics after 800 miles. Used synthetics ever since (50+ k now). Engine is INCREDIBLY smooth (4 cylynder) and poweful. I recently drove TWO other Camries (02 and 04) and my engine (smoothness and power) is at least two classes above the other two I camries I drove.

So, I think synthetics are fine. I think factories (for the US at least) don't put synthetics due to cost. In premium cars (lexus, BMW) you find them factory instaled. In Europe (at least my family and their friends) wonder why we still use mineral oils in egnines at all (because we are cheap.)

Even the gas we use is f.. up. In Germany and most europe they use 95 and 98 Octane. Ferraries (some models) and even VW sold in the US have to be slightly modified due to the fact that the gas we use is "raw" and low in octane.

We have lower octane for better EPA standards.....the poor folks in Cali can only get 91...sad really.

Local Sunoco station used to sell 100 octane. I gad a Pontiac GT (99) a while ago and I used to put few galons here and there just to "spice" things up (expensive though -like 10 bucks per galon).

i have a code alarm tw-1. it's a 2 way paging alarm but it is discontinued now. it's gonna cost you to get ti installed because its a pain in the ass. every god damn wire in the car is somehow connected to that stupid console. can't even put a decent system in there because of it. good luck trying to get an alrm installed for less than 600.

The kind of a bit high pitch sound.

Now, I don't know if it is just me imagining things, or is it normal for the new Honda engines to sound a bit high pitch..... :driving: It is very subtle and usually (I think) it is noticable when you accelerate and then let go of the gas pedal (I think?)..... ir it could be that I am just a new owner and a paranoid f.u.k?

Isnt it a bit to early to switch over to synthetic?

You will not find synthetic oil from the factory in any new engine due to inproper ring seating.

Changing to syn at 1500 miles is fine.

Also, changing the factory oil within the first 500 miles isn't bad. They don't put any mystery oil in the car.
