blown cylinder??? F&$K
Yesterday while driving on the highway comming back from the holidays disaster struck my 93 honda accord. I think it lost a cylinder permanently.... I always knew that no 1 was a bit weak in compression but it's no 3 that now doesn't work. I put a new plug and no difference, I swapped wires with another cylinder to see if the wire was the problem, still no difference. While idling and running it makes a "puitch puitch puitch" sound from this cylinder , kinda like some air was leaking somewhere. Anyone can tell me if this is blown cylinder , gasket or it might still be an electrical or fuel problem. It seems to have good spark though.
oh another thing, since i had to run a long time with that cylinder running, is it possible that it burned a plug and that all this mileage filled this cylinder with oil so much that it will not run anymore until i ride for a while? cuz the plug really seemed in bad shape and the one i put into to replace, was full of oil after 2 min of idling.
How's your Idle?
Compression test-
Leakdown test-
Check to see if you have any water in your oil (check the dipstick)
Do you have white smoke from the exhaust?
And what where u doing before this happened? Where u racing?
The oil on the plug just means that the seal is out, I had the same thing happen on my 93 acc & I ran fine, see if you can answer some questions & I'll try to help some more.

THe Idle is rough plus it has this sound. Compression i didn't do the test same with leakdown. The oil seems ok and it's still full of prestone as it was always since i have the car. There is a weird smell comming out of the car when i'm running though can't really say what it is i'm no expert.
IF you had a lot of blow by from the rings, you would be getting gasoline mixed with the oil and would have previously been burning a lot of oil. Rings typically fail slowly, not all of the sudden.
I think it's a seal in the tope end. The valve seats could be bad, but the spark plug seal is the most likely.
