recharge A/C
I just put on a used compressor, I have R134 cans and the hose from Wal-Mart, can someone explain to me what to do now to charge the system. Is it true that if you hook the hose up wrong the can will explode in your hand?
No....It didnt explode on me.
If you have a 90 accord im not sure which is the nozzle you put it in but I know it should have a blue cap on it.
I know you need to have the car on with the A/C running while your pumping it in there.
They also sell cans that have like a sealer type of liquid in there.
Might wanna use something like that in case you have leaks.

Take it to an AC shop. They'll use a vacuum pump to remove all the air & moisture from the system before putting the refrigerant in. It'll work way better that way. Maybe you can find a shop that's willing to simply run their vacuum pump on it for a couple hours, since you've already bought the refrigerant.
Assuming the system's been open for a while, did you replace the receiver/dryer?

I don't know the history of the system. When my older brother bought this car for our Mom the A/C was not charged and the bearing was bad on the clutch part of the compressor. I got a used compressor and put it on and there was no freon at all when I opened it. What is a receiver/dryer? Should I replace that anyway to be safe?
The receiver/dryer is about the size & shape of a beer can. Usually sits somewhere towards the front of the engine compartment. It has a dessicant to trap moisture so it doesn't screw up the system. Yours has been open long enough to suck up moisture from the air, making it worse than useless. I'd get a new one, but it's pretty easy for me to tell you to spend your money...
I don't know when Honda switched from R-12 to R-134a, but '90 might have been the old stuff. If it came with R-12 your R-134a hose won't fit. If it's been converted, the adapter fittings look like add-ons, not like they were built that way.
