Default Advancing timing; power?

I just did an engine swap on my buddies 91 civic (JDM ZC) and I learned a lot about engines from it. I heard of ppl saying that advancing the timing would gain some high end power. I would like to try this on my 6th gen. Have any of you advanced your timing? By how much should I advance?

I still don't know how to count degrees with a timing light, but I know how to set it for the stock timing. If you give exact numbers let me know how to set it to the correct degree.

What should I expect from the new timing? Probably not much, but I don't mind experimenting.

funny u ask that question. i had the mechanic do mine and he did exactly what u asking and yessss it does gain power but for some reason my intake sounds louder, is like the engine is sucking more air which i think it is and i think thats the logical thing it should happen. correct me if i am wrong

i am going back to stock intake cause my car is auto heh

Yeah, your car sounds louder because its advanced in the lower end, and working harder. So youre not actually getting more hp, just more power at lower gears, but youre going to be reving higher the whole time you drive, which isnt very good to your engine....

sigh, so enlighten me oh wise one as to how you move a distributor with no slots, and on top of that how do you keep the ecu from reading the cam and crank position sensor and automatically correcting it to base timing. and if your gonna tell me pull out the 3rd bolt on the distributor so it can rotate, please do share how you get around the ecu throwing a CEL when you move the cam sensor and crank sensor too far out of phase.

and no electronic devices such as msd timing modules dont count.

damn I would have to look at the dizzy. I assumed it would be like the ZC configuration. Just loosen three bolts and turn that sucker.

Are you sure u know what you are talking about? Seems like you made your point well, I would just rather have you be wrong
