Advancing timing; power?

Are you sure u know what you are talking about? Seems like you made your point well, I would just rather have you be wrong

but if you look at your dizzy you will see two bolt holes are slotted and the 3rd one is not so thats a no go on moving the dizzy. Plus if you take out the 3rd bolt and you move it around too far your gonna throw a CEL cuz the crank position sensor thats on the oil pump will be too far out of sync with the cam position sensor in the dizzy,
only way to effectively move the timing is get some sort of timing control unit, like a MSD box or what not.
now i wonder what should i do. take the car back to the mechanic and have it setup factory the way it came or keep it the way it is? i do have more pickup but thats about it. i like my car quite it and this is too loud.

Dude I was talking about the ignition timing and not valve timing. The ignition timing is normally adjusted by turning the distributor. I just looked at my distributor and I concur that it was not designed to be turned. Also I'm sure they are correct about the ecu ****ing it all up if you did manage to turn the dizzy.

<3 u
heheh <3, just a ghetto internet heart icon
and moving the cam gear is like a really really terrible way to move your igintion timing, if your gonna do that, you might as well take off the bolt on the dizzy and turn that instead. cuz moving the cam is gonna throw ur whole power band around and could end up loosing power too, thats why it something best left to do on a dyno.
but in the end, moving the cam timing to move the dizzy timing still comes up with a net result of "****ing pointless" cuz the obd2 ecu loves us so very much.
