isnt the block on a SOHC engine not as wide ( from firewall to radiator ) to accomodate a wider head ( H22 )?

actually you can mate the h22 head onto the f22-23 blocks, the head is a bit wider that way, but all you need to do is plug up a few oil return holes. not much custom work is needed to mount it. but by no means is this a bolt-in affair.

Yes ive heard of this. It would effectively make my f23 a DOHC engine after that mod. I just didnt know if i should go that route or go the head package route. But the DOHC conversion would be a lot cheaper then the head package, better for boosting, and my revs would be 7000rpms instead of 6200rpms. But im not sure how much hp i would gain...

its not so much the head you need to worry about when reving high, its the block. you can safely rev a stock f22/f23 head to 7k w/o problems, but the block is another story. honestly, if you want power for cheap, the cheapest way in the long run would be a full h22 swap, i am looking at it from a reliablity and maintaince stand point as well, not just total swap costs.

another thing to consider is, if you went the f22 headpackage route, for it to make any real power, i'm talking matching an h22's stock output, you'll probalby lose a bit of driveablity, such as a lopy idle and what not depending on how extreme you go with the cam, where as u drop in a stock h22, and u have essentially stock driveability.

just a few things to consider when making your decision.
