Default AC Water leak inside car

I have a 1994 Accord EX with over 178,000 miles. Recently, I notice water in my passenger side floorboard. It is only there when the AC is on or just turned off.

With so many miles on my car, I am not really willing to spend too much money to repiar this problem, but some suggestions would be great and helpful.

Thank in advance.

Dan

Look for the condensate drain for your air duct. I don't have a '94, but somewhere above the passenger footwell is the AC air duct. It should have a hose coming off the bottom, going thru the firewall, so that water is supposed to drain on the ground.

See if the hose is disconnected or torn. If not, then go under the car, find that hose. Pinch it or work a stick or something (NOT sharp) into it because it might be clogged up with crud.

In the very worst case you might have to take apart the dashboard to get at the inside of the hose to clear it.

Thanks for everyone's response. I put the car on ramps and inspected the AC water line and did not notice anything, except no water coming out it. Then went back inside the car and jiggled the rubber like tube below the glove box. After several jiggles, I heard the water gushing outside the car onto the driveway. I was excited and hoped that is all I needed to do to fix this problem.

If there's more crud inside the air box, you might have to do the same thing a couple more times, if the rest of the crud gets stuck in that tube.

Default Drain on 2002 Accord

Can someone tell me where to locate the evaporator drain on my 2002
Accord SE? I have looked all over the firewall and underneath to the best of my abilities without taking things apart. I just started having the same problem in the last couple of days.

Thanks.

Two things usually prevent the AC drain from draining: MOLD or DEBRIS.

If its debris, take the blower motor (behind the glove box) out and clean out the air box.

If its mold, take out the blower motor and (carefully) spray 1:1 bleach water in the airbox and on the little fins of the evaporator. Get under the car and get one of those really long handled mini-bottle brushes and go to town on the drain tube. You should get a flood of water when the tube unclogs.

For a MILDEW smell only when the a/c is on, run up to the store and pick up some Rug Doctor Odor Remover and take out your blower behind the AC. Yet again, mix it 1:1 with water in a spray bottle and liberally spray down the airbox, evaporator, AND what you can of the blower motor squirrel cage. One application usually does the trick. I found the Rug Doctor Odor Remover works great totally by accident (grabbed the wrong bottle from under the sink but the stuff works great!).

Default Thanks for answering.

My problem is locating the drain tube. I can't clean it out if I can't find it. I would like to know exactly where to look. As I stated earlier, I have looked for it pretty thoroughly without taking things apart.

Thanks.

Looks like it doesn't have a hose, really. Check #19 it looks like it's some kind of seal where the drain presses up against the firewall.

Default Thanks Jim

Thanks for the link. Now I wonder how a person cleans this drain out through the seal? Of course I still need to locate it. Is it behind the glove box?

Thanks again,

Ken
