Record mileage without timing belt change?
i have a 93 accord with 193,000 on it. owned for 4 yrs and second owner (bought from my neighbor). fond out last week it never was changed. and i haven't done it either. hopefully new motor will be done before it goes.
1998 EXV6 Coupe 175K and counting (transmission exploded before the belt)... 97 Civic EX 160K and counting... 96 Accord DX 180K and Honda said the belt looked fine. 93 del Sol S - previous owner overchanged it I guess, by 140K they had the 3rd belt on it already (sold to my niece and it currently has 160K). Does anyone here have any experience with the timing belt tensioner on the 3.0 V6 (as far as how to adjust after replacement)? Any write ups on the belt change anywhere? I've searched and I found all the stuff on the 4cyl, but can't find any info on the 3.0...

Something else...if an engine develops a small oil leak on the same side of the engine under the timing belt cover, it will end up on the belt and that will be a factor in belt life too.
I equate it to driving with old tires. You can sometimes go way past the mileage but age catches up to them even though the tread may look good. It's just not worth the risk. Either save the cash to get it done, or if you're a pretty capable DIYer the belt doesn't cost that much. To really do it right, replace the water pump and all the belts at one time. It's better to take care of the basics before you mount that airplane wing on the back

I called the Honda place just up the road and after tax, the 98 3.0 runs about 800 after tax, but that's before my 10% "100,000 mile club" discount. Not trying to press my luck with it, I just got the car a few days ago and need to get the maintenance taken care of... Got a great price on it - about $300 and it's all fully functional, except the ignition switch that I need to replace so I can't really complain for the price
