Please help me understand my Accord

I have 140,200 miles. I averaged 85 MPH the whole way, going between 75 and 95 depending on traffic. I took it up to 140MPH on a stretch of highway that was deserted.
I mean, I only hit VTEC twice...once when I was chasing a 350Z out of the gas station, then when I went for the speed run. But 29.5 MPG?!?!? The highest I've EVER gotten before was 27.8, and that was doing 72-75 all highway.
I mean, sure she's got her problems. The tranny is starting to go because the reverse synchro is messed up I think, the shocks are blown and I don't have the money to fix them, but this car is amazing.
$18.40 from NYC to Syracuse is pretty impressive. Even more impressive is this car 140,130 miles after the day I bought it.

A lot of things could depend on why your gas mileage may have been higher than in the past. Examples:
Amount of stop and go with the higway traffic
Tire Pressure (Big Influence)
Amount of Luxuries running on in the car (A/C)
Extra weight in the car
Possibly a Cleaner Air Filter
...Could be anything that helped you get better MPG, so just be happy that you got better MPG even as the car gets older.
even a consistent tail wind could greatly change the milage. Also look at the topography of a long trip, are you increasing altitude or decreasing it. Going uphill will burn much more.
Are you stating in your post you went nearly 2.5 times the speed limit on a public road?
Geez that reeks of illegal activity
Could have been tire pressure, wind direction, slope of road travelled, ambient air temp...any number of or combination of things really.

i noticed that after putting octane booster in my tank and then taking the hose from the intake mani to the fuel regulator, my gas mileage definately improved. i make 2 trips a week to this place thats probably 70-90 miles round trip, and has a couple of really nasty uphill grades. usually it would take me just more than a quarter tank
but if i try not to drop a gear while going up the grades and put it in neutral and coast down the other side, it takes me less than a quarter tank round trip.
i might even think about cleaning my air filter someday. it needs it

John, 2.5 times 65 is around 162. I didn't hit that
The whole thing about not understanding was intended as sarcasm, because I find it so amazing :slap:
