Default Catalytic Converter on 2003 (7th gen)

Well, today my dealer has informed me that I need a new cat for my car. It is a 2003 LX Inline 4 4dr with 10,800 miles on it. I got the car almost exactly one year ago too
I got a check engine light last night and searched up and down this forum and other forums to find out how to pull the code but didnt get very much information. Any one else experienced this?

wtf???.........New Cat? Well if you do need it the DEALER must replace it free of charge.
Its part of the emissions law. Plus the car is way under 35,000k miles which would cut off the warranty. I couldnt see how else this cat would die out unless this particular one is a defect.

Your 8 yr / 80k mile emmissions warranty would cover it even without an extended warranty.

Since you only have 10k miles on your car, Honda should cover this. Just make sure you take off all of your mods when you are getting it done or else they will blame it on your mods.

the dealer is going to fix it. Its covered under warranty. I have extended warranty from 36,000 to 75,000 or 5 yrs. I dont think i need the extra coverage and that is why i wanted to get rid of it.
But like i said, they are going to cover it under warranty. the service manager said he heard about them going bad but didnt get into too many details. Either way, I just wanted to know if anyone was going or had gone through a similar problem.
Thanks
