Default h22 swap

I have couple of questions about swapping h22 on my 6gen.
1. Is it worth the hassle?
2. will my tranny be compatible with it?(I have manual)?
3. Is it a reliable mod? will i have to replace ecu and my gages?
4.what is a total cost?
Thanks for any help.

1. Thats up to you I like mine at time but being OBDII is a bitch to deal with

2. Use the H22 tranny

3. It will be as realiable as any other honda engine and you will need to use the P13 (prelude ecu) gauges will work fine

4.unknown

first, you need to know that you will never get back what spent into.

second, it's reliable so long as the install is done right (ie:this inclues replacing maintenance items) and you get a good motor.

it can get $$$, to have it installed and done right i would say at least 4K.

with that being said your cheapest most reliable way for an H22 Accord is to buy one already done from a good owner, possibly even a respectable memeber on a honda board. btw mine is for sale.

redline is at 7,400 on the lude and fuel cut is 7650. for most people the accord tach tends to be off, some more than others. for me i bring to about 8,000 on the tach to get 7,400 rpm shifts. i only know this cause of the apexi VAFC.

1. If you want speed it's worth the hassle
2. I would get a prelude tranny
3. you would have to replace ecu, tranny, engine, and if you want a/c a little more work.
4. CDN (Canadian Dollar) I can get an H22A 92-96 JDM for $3300 +$1000 for installation.

1) Yes it is a noticeable powere improvement but don't expect neck snapping response and power. Overall it is worth it.

2) Yes you can use the F series tranny but I strongly suggest the H series tranny for best results.

3) If you get a full swap then ECU tranny and axles should be included and will be able to drop right in for the most part (varies from model to model but mostly straight swap).

4) Total cost is going to vary for the engine package expect to pay anywhere from 1800 - 2500 with al parts included. For the actua wrench work...totaly dependent on the shop you go to or if you do it yourself.

While you are swapping it out you may want to go ahead and replace timing belt, water pump, and the timing belt tensioner (see if you can swap in one from an H23 its more reliable if you start racing a bit).

Aside from that it is a very reliable swap and if you aren't going to be really high revving or heavily modifying the engine then the stock tensioner works fine.

Oh and as for the tach you can run your Accord tach. I run stock Accord tach and mine is safe to rev to 9500 rpm (though I have yet to go that high) because of the build on it.

Its hard to get an engine newer or as new as ur accord. I wouldn't settle for an engine older than my car. Just spend that 4k on a badass turbo setup and u will smoke any stock H22 out there. IMO if u don't have the money to build the H22 up then don't get it. The power gains of a stock H22 don't justify the 4k spent in my oppinion.
