Default Broken Factory CD player

yeah, my shit broke a few months ago (it displays E-00 on the unit) and it seldom plays any cd that i put in it. I've try just about every disc type, but the ish aint workin. I took it to honda, and they said it would cost like 300 bux to fix it--**** THAT. anyone else out there have this problem? If so what did you do, cuz i'm hella broke, and cant afford to have it fixed or buy an aftermarket player.

EDIT: btw, my car is a 5sp 00 accord coupe, its the single disk cd player also.

Cheap solution:
1. Start calling junkyards for a replacement. You can get another one easily for under 75 bucks, and swapping them out is not a hard process.

2. Make friends with someone who works at a Best Buy, because they get 60% off of all car audio. It's good to have connections when getting stuff for your car...only way I have as much stuff as I do now, because I don't pay full price for it... :grinpimp:

www.autotoys.com has aux input adapters to use with OEM decks. But they're kinda pricey, around $70 I think.

If you buy a used OEM deck, either see if the owners manual is in the car, and it has with the anti-theft code card, or make a trip to the dealer before the install to have them look it up using the serial number.

Yeah I just found out that there are transmitters out on the market that hook into the headphone jacks of an Ipod and sends a signal just like a regulare radio station band to your car's radio. Not sure as to the price, but I was made aware that the power unit to plug into your car's lighter source is extra, but something you may want to look into. I just decided this past week to go with Sirius radio since my aftermarket deck was already Sirius ready and I found all of the hardware new for just under 100 bucks. I too am tired of what the regular radio stations constantly play over and over again.
