93 Accord dyno test
Hey every1, I ran the 93 on a dyno this morning and this is what I got:
This dynomometer test was conducted at ATS Racing in Lewisville, Texas. A Dynojet 248C Wideband was used, the same kind that NASCAR uses to conduct testing.
Performed on a 1993 Accord 10th Anniversary Edition with the LX 125hp 2.2 I4 that came stock. Bolt-ons are a short ram intake, and an APEX WS cat-back exhaust. Those two are the only performance mods that were done to the car (everything else is handling related).
Keep in mind that this is wheel horsepower, not flywheel horsepower.
It was run 3x and each run was almost identical, except for the first one which had a tiny, tiny bit of detonation (and had the highest power rating too).
wheel hp: 105.2hp
wheel tq: 120.3 ft#
The 'pros' there speculated that it was most likely over 135 flywheel horse. Woo hoo!
Air/fuel ratio was a nice flat line that only dipped slightly at the 3500rpm point. Max hp was at 5200, and max torque was at 4000.
This test was also run on 87 pump gasoline. I wanted a 'run of the mill' run without the racing gas (104 octane). Besides, I just tanked up last night on the good ol' 87.
[quickie edit] I'll have a handfull of pics up in a while.
[another stealth edit] Fixed max torque and hp rpms. Had em backwards. oopsie.

good to know...lol I've got a 10th anniversary myself
probably not even close to your numbers though, as I think I'm pretty close to being in need of a tune-up
congrats on the respectable numbers (considering factory numbers on our 4g's)

I looked at the hp for the honda accord ex 1993, and it said it had 140 hp, so how do you get 105 from the wheel and 135 from the fly? Does that mean that the engine produces 140 hp, but you lose power down the line?

our 10th anniversary's have the f22a1 like the lx's, not the f22a4's in the ex's. The 10th anniversary is basically just a souped up LX w/ ABS, color matched moldings, and a few extra visual goodies
Yes, there is parasitic drain as well as drivetrain drain. Drivetrain is the obvious one such as the transmission, wheel bearings, dragging brakes, and such. Parasitic ones are things like power steering and air conditioning.
Don't forget about the EX/SE lip spoilers on the bottom of the bumpers. Some 10th Anniversary models have the spoilers on the trunk. I've only seen them on the green ones. They also had the 15" alloys instead of those cheesy 14" steelies with wheel covers.
Hey fliplyricist, did you paint your stock 6 spoke wheels black?

nice #'s, this is why i shift at 5500rpms in my 92 accord LX.. peak hp is at 4000rpm and peak tq is at 5200rpm.. after 5500rpms i notice the car staying the same speed pretty much but the rpms just shoot up... it feels much faster when i shift at 5500rpms, anyways.. nice tq #'s for just what you had. i thought the f22a1 was rated at 127 tq stock? unless the exhaust gave it that much tq, it didn't loose too much through the drivetrain.
