[QUOTE=HAZE]No offense to those who use generic ebay parts on their car, but imo...if your going to pay over 10,000-18,000 for a car, is it really really worth the risk to put a cheap exhaust/intake for 25$ and run the chance of messing it up? I personally dont think so..but hey, its your car.[QUOTE]

did you read anything i wrote? how is using one powdercoated aluminum pipe any different than using one with an AEM logo? a pipe is a pipe is a pipe.

has anyone here that bought a generic intake from ebay or wherever had any problems what so ever? i think the concensus is gonna be no. you're preaching that people waste their money on a logo. it makes no sense.

i got one for my 91 civic si... if anything it was FASTER cuz the g*y AEM was 2.5 inch diameter and ebay was 3" for 3/4 the cost. also 1-2 whp won't make that much of a difference.. it may FEEL a lot faster cuz its more smooth throughout the power band but that much won't make your car .1 seconds faster, BUT MAYBE .05 seconds faster. haha

also $6,000 to make an accord fast is wayyyy too much considering you can get a H22 for $2000 shipped.. get a HMT for maybe $600 for everythin you need and run low 13's with ease
then get pistons, rods, upgrade the valve train for another $2000.. there you go thats $4600 for an extremely fast car. haha

and also all F22 blocks have steel sleeves so they can handle 15 psi on stock internals so for $600 or less you could have a low 14 second F22 accord for cheap. oh but wait you can't.. you have smog, ahahahahahaha

Dude, chill man. Im just giving you my .02 cents of opinion upon why i would rather purchase AEM over ebay parts. Obviously our circumstances arent the same. I dont accept you to 100% agree, and thats fine. The bottom line is though, the fact that all of us owns an Accord proves that we are all swayed by reputation and looks. Why did you get your Accord rather then a Saturn??? "its does the same thing" right??? The fact that you own a honda and am trying to tell me that generic and brand names dont matter is a walking contradiction. Analyze your argument before you spit something back. BTW, i dont wanna argue about this, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, get back to the point of this thread and actaully give this guy some Mod advice.

None of your costs include labor, you must be a really skilled mechanic :awais:

how about somebody do this.....somebody with a shop or something, take an accord..any accord...get an ebay CAI and an AEM CAI (original or V2) and take'em to they dyno then post the printouts. that'll settle the whole argument once and for all. if i had access to a dyno i'd do it myself..my V2 will be in wednesday...and ebay shit is still shit.....peacE

oh yeah HAZE, have you ever worked on an engine before? by saying this: "None of your costs include labor, you must be a really skilled mechanic " thats saying you know sh*t about cars. i have my own turbo project on my 91 civic si right now.. i've gotten all the parts and I've put them on the car.. no help in person, only LEARNED by friends, posts, and reading a lot. i've tooken apart an engine, have you? i took out the pistons, rods, clutch, flywheel, cam.. i have put all those back in the engine too and it looked fine so i dunno why working on an engine is so hard that i need a real mechanic to do? i'm 17 and in highschool and your telling me you haven't read about how to work on an engine? no wonder you said the AEM v2 is the sh*t, haha... how much do they cost? $200-250 or more? oh well with even 200 you can get a exhaust mani, turbo, bov... right there... all you need left is piping made, tapped oil pan, oil lines, boost gauge, FMU or the better way is S-AFC or V-AFC and guess what you have boost. like i said you spent 1/3 the price on that intake then on my whole turbo kit.

also the F22 sleeves are steel so they can handle a lot on stock internals.. check out www.homemadeturbo.com i'm draztik on there. theres a guy with the 90-93 accord with F22 running 15 psi on stock internals which is stronger.. steel or aluminum, think about it, so dont' say you can only go for looks cuz it takes 6000 to get the car fast cuz its an accord. and the F22a1's have 8.8:1CR perfect for boost, another reason why they can boost so high, less chance of detonation with more boost. enough said.
