oh i totally understand where you're coming from...my stereo isnt bad....i've got 2 12" kicker competitions on a 400 watt amp and polk audio 6x9's in the back so its not like i'm running on a stock system. its not great, its not the worst...it gets me through ok though...especially with my carputer for mp3's but if you saw my car right now, you'd know why i didnt want to spend money on the stereo...its pretty bad.

hmm, you could potentially replace all your speakers for around 200. I got a deal at tweeter when i had my acura legend and got eclipse 6.5"s coax with tilted tweeters all around for 200. I was really happy with those when compared to stock and the stock headunit is more than enough to drive them. Of course, they get better when you add an amp =) Anyways, I would highly recommend eclipse to you, although no one else here seems to.

SPL-sound pressure level (basically a measurement of how hard and loud your bass hits)

SQ- Sound Quality

SPL is for bassheads, they try to get their system to hit as hard as it possible can to achieve the highest spl measurement in decibels.

SQ is for the audiophiles(like me, even though im broke ) that like a balanced system, clean, crisp mids and highs with a nice tight, clean sounding bass. Volume isn't as much a priority as quality of sound is to us.

if they have purple cones they are the dualmags. those are some pretty cool looking and sounding speakers.

not a problem bro, I was once there. You could run two sets of components with one 4ch amp, the wattage of that amp is dictated by the rms rating of the components. You could run one 5ch amp for the whole system, but a decent one is gonna cost you a pretty penny.
