i dont think its that big of a mod that you have to reset the ECU, make sure its a K&N filter or better

I have heard things like that too but dont think its for the 4th gens. think its for the newer cars, (not sure) but something about the air flow sensor reads that ther eis too much air comming in so it re calibrates the ECU to adjust the motor so you really don't gain any power. in fact you may loose something.

:dunno: just read that in a thread in HAN somewhere.

Said that to keep this from happening you had to pull the ECU fuse about every 30 days to reset the ECU so that the AFS would reset and that it took about 25-30 days for the AFS to re-calibrate the ECU.

again :dunno: just read it in here somewhere.

I don't think the engine is getting more air its just easier for it to suck it in. I would think only a certain amount of air could fit in a NA engine no matter what the intake or the lack of one.

Its not really HOW MUCH as it is how easy it is to pull air into the motor.

Look at it like this. close off one side of your nose and breath in through your nose. then open both sides and breath in.

 get it?????

The easier it is for the motor to "breath" the better it preforms. same with exasust systems. the better the car can breath out, the better it can run. but you dont want it to breath it or out TOO much, then your defeating the pourpose(sp)

It all has to be balansed just right for the maximum power gain.

"I don't think the engine is getting MORE AIR..." yea thats my understanding of it. I was disagreeing with the ECU "learning" about the intake and changing performance.

Between ur last two posts u gave two opposite statements. The first about too much air coming in and the second about it being easier breath. I agree with the second but not the first.

in my FIRST post I was saying about what I READ ABOUT not what I belive happens.

:dunno: just read that in a thread in HAN somewhere.

You probably felt a small gain, not much....the intake probably has a larger diameter piping so its overall good for ya.

The ecu does not need to be reset, it resets on its own anyways, so why bother :dunno:

Ok, now since some of us have read this other thread about having to reset the ECU, please explain to us (or me ) how the ECU resets itself?
