Default Hmmmm...Too Hot to Handle??

I am seriously debating over getting a JDM H22 engine and tranny to swap out my automatic F22b2 and i have found an engine for about $2300 down in Hayward. But the thing is i was quoted for an install with tranny swap for $$$4000. WHAAAAAAAA! So I am thinking about trying to DIY. Do you guys think it will be too hard? Im not on a time budget so i can take as long as i want, and if i do end up doing so i will need a lot of help from this forum. Have any of you guys ever done this job before? Transmission swap? Thanks for any replies.....

Doing an H22 swap isn't hard, but its not easy either. Check out www.h22a.org for info on the swap. 4k for just doing the swap alone? uhhhh that is just way too expensive. I know most shops will be from 800-1500 dollars depending on the experience and time they have. I would shop around before doing anything else first.

i paid $900 plus an extra $400 for my h22 and tranny swap.

please try a search details should be found pretty easily. honestly to do a engine/tranny swap the right way and have a shop do the work expect to pay at least $5,000 total.

remeber there is more than just a motor and tranny swap to do if want things to last.

well yea, its a full swap and tranny conversion and all necessary extra parts...eg new water pump, o2 sensors, oils pans, pedals, axles, and im thinking a racing clutch too but im not really sure..... and i tried looking at the H22.org site and without the pictures, it honestly doesnt help.......i find lookin at mags with H22 swaps into GSRs more helpful...So have any of you guys ever done the swap on your own?

In the morning before I go to work, I'm sending a money order to virginia for an H22a, tranny, ecu, harness, and axles for $1,700 shipped. i'm not entirely sure how soon it'll arrive, but I plan on having the Accord being out of commission for about two months while I work on it a couple hours a day and on weekends. I probably won't actually start taking the accord apart until the middle of November or so, but I live in the Bay Area, so if ya decide to DIY, we can help eachother out with the install.

I live in the San Mateo area but will be doing the actual swap in Belmont. A buddy is selling his H22a, and I've been wanting a hybrid for awhile so he called me up and asked me if I was still interested. There's another guy who wants to buy it from him, so I gotta wake up early to make sure he gets my money first, I'm not lettin' this one go, he he he.
