Hmmmm...Too Hot to Handle??
I was quoted at 4700 motor included, 5-speed conversion out the door in 2 days. Not sure how good that is but im going with that for right now until I check out 3 other shops which I hope I get a better deal.
96jdm where is the shop in portland?? i'm assuming you got the quote from a shop. Thats a great price if they find and install everything for you and its a two day turn around, i'd be willing to drive south for that, thanks for the help:thumbup:
well 4,700 seems like a rip to me depending in what is included.
you should pay no more than 2,600 for JDM H22 with shipping. actually prices seem to be pretty low now and they should be able to charge you less say 2,300 with shipping. as for labor $800-1000 is what a motor swap generally runs and about $400 for the 5sp swap and no more than $600 for 5sp parts.
now if this includes all new maintenace items like timing belt/water pump and misc other things that should be done than that is a good price. otherwise they aren't doing you any favors.

I wouldnt say thats a rip off comparing to the prices you just stated...the total of what you think you should pay was around $4300, while the shop quoted him $4700...only a 400 dollar difference and plus it'll only take TWO days!

The guy who swaps motors is pretty quick. He takes motors out in 30 minutes. He builds motors and knows what he is doing. Yes the price might seem high, and the two day turn around might be risky but they have been known for a good reputation so for now is them other wise im checking out some other shops.
