is the governing within the ECU?

how do you "un-govern"?

if the govorner wasn't there...what would the vtec F engines be capable of? i know this would vary with tuning, but let's say a stock 5-speed accord on a flat grade...is 5th strong enough to pull it above 140?

its not the gear it's the engine....they are mostly drag limited because the engine doesn't have enough power to get above 120 or so....but nitrous or turbo would do it

i don't know if i agree with you...in fact i know the 120 isn't accurate...

well before i had anything done to my car i hit 135 and let off only because a taxi pulled out in front of me about 1/4 mile ahead of me...

this was in my 99 accord coupe...F23A

but going downhill doesn't give me what i want to know...i'm curious what our engines are actually capable of...not what they can do w/ less resistance

does it take a new ecu or reprogrammed chip to get rid of a gov.?

downhill shouldn't matter should it?...it's the actual speed...not the engine's capability that causes the speed governor to hit...now thas diff from the rev limiter which is stopped b/c the engine aint gonna go anymore...anyway...EX ecu should get rid of it...but if ur still pulling, even very slowly, u haven't hit it...cuz i pull pretty good till 112/113, which is where i think mine is...my car's older gen btw...and when u hit it...it just like jerks/jumps and holds u back

i have an EX...so an EX ecu won't get rid of it...unless i'm mistaken and there isnt one? 137 is what someone said up ^^^^ there somewhere...i wish i wudda kept on it for those extra 2 mph to see what happens but i was just wondering how fast they COULD go w/o a gov.

what does it matter what it's capable of if you can't go that fast?

i mentioned the downhill thing, so you can try it and see where you hit your governor

are you gonna tell peeps that "yeah she's govorned at 137, too bad it'll only really go to 105"

it matters what its capable of out of curiosity...i thought somebody might have been able to get rid of the gov. and already knows...that's why i asked

i don't understand what you mean by "it'll only go to 105" i hit 135 on a flat road so why it would only go 105 i don't understand
