Because the b16a has a different deck height than the b18s. You'd need custom rods to use a B18C crank. Cha-ching.

gsr motor with ls crank....essentially a badass ls/vtec but way more reliable.

I really don't think the extra ~90cc of displacement is worth it, but whatever floats your boat.

it's not really the displacement, it's the LS engine geometry paired with VTEC is really efficient and it puts out a lot of power. That's the thought behind the LS/VTEC combo, however with the gsr motor and just LS internals you won't have random reliability problems such as randomly leaking oil when you're driving down the highway.
