Default B18C5 or B16B?

I need some help. I'm shopping for a new motor for my 99 Si, and wanted some feedback on the merits of the B18C5 and B16B.

I know the B18 has more torque, but I wanted to know a little more about the B16. How does it compare to the B16A2 I currently have?

b16b has higher hp and higher compression ration than the A. i would not go with either engine tho. b18c1 is for sure your best bet for tuning.

Maybe, but if a buy a Type-R motor I also get a limited slip, and I'm not really a fan of the B18C1.

No particular reason, I'm just not a fan.h:

if you buy a jdm b18c1 you can get an lsd on it. and buying an engine is no time to dislike something for no reason. but if you want to waste money then by all means, by a type R engine

Maybe i'm being a little obtuse. I'm not ruling anything out.

Do you think it would be worth putting my B16 head on this B18C1? I have heard people argue that either head is superior to the other. From what i know, I think the B16 head is better, but I'm not really sure.

i dont kno the exact specs of the B16B, but i do kno its 182 hp at a very high RPM.

the b16b also comes with a super short gear'd transmission with an LSD.

I say go with the ITR, You'd be able to rebuild your B16 to R specs anyway...

there was a thread about this on HT (:rick: ) and the b18c1 head had slightly better flow, but nothing substantial.

Yeah I'm Black2000GSR's cousin.

So it wouldn't be worth swapping heads?

Is there anyone out there who has a B16B? Do you recommend it?

How about an engine rebuild? I don't know how extensive the damage to my engine is, and I think it would be a waste of money to pay and have it torn apart, only to discover that my block's f'd up, but, it would be nice to know what's out there, what's possible.

You could always buy a B18C1 shortblock, and attach your SI trans and head. Cheap and effective.
