I have ur exact car, the pipe simply bends differently, it doesn't need the cut-out, it bends under into the wheel well...
trust me I thought the same when i got it, but my AEM CAI doesn't need the cutout...i got mine for the sound, I know it doesn't affect performance

Alright I was gonna take a pic for u, but i can't find my cam so I'll just describe it:
The pipe comes vertically off the throttlebody, then bends towards the battery, bends towards the headlight on the passenger side at a slightely downward angle, then just when it has room, it bends down(almost vertical) then when it has room it bends at a 90 degree angle into the wheel well....
Hope that helps...

putting a cai on a y7 is a waste of $200.
first of all, the biggest thing is the way the TB and IM is shaped. Its vertical instead of horizantal.
my suggestion if you want a cai is at least swap the y8 IM and then get one for an EX. You'd see more gains, even if you just threw a short ram on there.
BTW, short ram = more low, mid range
cai = more high range.
you see "gains" regardless.
maybe consider a mini-me swap, or a full ex changeover. You'd see even more gains.

if you buy a cai, buy one of ebay. everyone knows all cai's are they same, and if you really wanted to, you could buy a k&n filter. i bought my cai for 26.50. to me, thats worth it. its just pocket change
I would rather have better looks rather than do a useless performance mod. And lips are only for race cars? I just don't see the point of a useless performance mod. People just wanna mod stuff to say they modded stuff not to actually see any gains. It's pathetic. I wanna puke every time I see a 17 second civic at the track with $2,000.00 in "mods". Makes the whole movement look bad IMO.
