Default Cold air intake.

I have a '98 DX coupe. I was thinking of getting a cold air intake. I installed one on my brothers car, and his had a cut out just under the intake box that I noticed mine does not have. I was just wondering if anyone here has a DX coupe that they have put a cold air intake on and if theirs has a cut out for it. If not, how does it work?

What should I use to cut the whole? I'm kind of lacking in the way of tools right now.

You could buy a complete Dremel kit for under $30 if you want to make it really finished and perfect. Heck, Harborfreight.com sells them for $6, but you get what you pay for.

Also you could use a drill to make relief holes, and then tin snips to cut between them. File your edges when you're done, and paint never hurt anyone. I reccommend you paint any exposed metal because it WILL rust.

short ram has even less gains than cold air.

And besides, I don't mind doing a little work on my car, I think it's actually quite fun, but that's just me.

CAI = waste of money. But if you wanna waste monet then go agead. I'd spend the $ on a lip or something.

That's strange? How come there's no hole ? Don't most Civic's come with those huge resonator air boxes in the lower fender?

Not the dx model. I don't know why it's different but it is. And ummmm, why do you think a CAI wouldn't be worth the money? I think a lip would be more useless. It's just for looks unless I'm going to be racing. Which I'm not.
