Default Motor Nightmare!

OK this is so turning into a nightmare. I finally got and installed my obd1 computer thinking this would solve my rev limiter problem at 5000rpm. Now I can only take it to 6800rpm:cry:

Here's what I've done so far for those who don't know. Hopefully you can help. I dropped a 96 b18c motor into my 99 civic ex. I am using my stock wiring harness with a obd1 conversion harness and obd1 p72 ecu. I ran the IAB wires and this works. I here it crack open around 6000rpm. But once I hit 6800rpm I hit a rev limiter. Any ideas. The only weird shit I had to do during the install was use my stock distributor internals and put them in the b18c casing so the wires would plug up. Any ideas... PLEASE HELP!!!

Just to add to what Matt said. We put the ECU in and took it for a drive before we plugged the IAB in...VTEC was working. After we plugged the IAB in we took it for another drive...VTEC was working and you could hear the valves open right around 6000 RPM. So we got the IAB to work but the car was still redlining around 7000K RPM. He was does not have a ground wire in his car yet...something we noticed after we got it home...so we put the ground rom my GSR on and took it out a third time...this time VTEC was not kicking in at all. I doubt the ground wire had anything to do with this...I could be wrong though.

Any thoughts would help and you can guess what our Friday night is going to be spent doing.h:

what might of happened is that the ecu you're running might have been preprogramed with some with settings. you might wanna check that out.

I run an OBD1 P72 and my fuel cutoff happens at like 8200 RPMs. VTEC engages at 4200 RPMs.

You sure you have the right ECU?

If you look at the code on the ECU itself, the middle numbers are what you have.

You also have to remember that the GSR has secondaries in the intake manifold that change the pitch of the exhaust like VTEC does. Are you sure that's not what you're hearing and VTEC isn't working?

Just a thought.

I totally sympathise with you man... just about everyone here knows what I went though when I built mine. :wtc:
