The D16Y7 is actually not he 115hp motor you're thinking about. The Y7 is only 106hp and it was used in the 96-00 DX/LX Civics. The D17A1 is the SOHC non-VTEC 115hp engine used in the current DX/LX Civics.

Where are you getting that info from? Because it's not right.

I have the original brochures for the '96 and '97 model years, and both state the del Sol S as having a 106hp SOHC 16v non-VTEC engine.

The Y7 is only 106hp. The current lineup of Civic DX/LX models is 115hp, but they use a D17A1.

D16Y7 = 1.6L = SOHC non-VTEC = 96+ Civic CX/DX/LX = 106hp (96-97 del Sol S)

D16Y8 = 1.6L = SOHC VTEC = 96+ Civic EX = 127hp (96-97 del Sol Si)

D17A1 = 1.7L = SOHC non-VTEC = 01+ Civic DX/LX = 115hp

D17A2 = 1.7L = SOHC VTEC-E = 01+ Civic EX = 127hp

So the '93-'95 CIVIC DEL SOL S had the SOHC 16V (102 HP) 1.5L D15B7, and the '96-'97 CIVIC DEL SOL S w/TEC dist had the SOHC 16V (115 HP) 1.6L D16Y7

i saw that it was funny LOL ,so i guess i have a 1.6 with 106 Hp, and i checked with my cousins escort and he has 127 hp so its also lighter thats probably why. well its time for a ls or gsr swap i want to go b series instead of d, i dont know why but i like the dohc motors better but thats just me . if he owns me after the swap im buying a escort gt LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL just kidding, i used to have a escort but it was a lx with only like 88 hp and it had a 1.9 engine it also had more torque than my sol probably becouse the displacemen..


so till i get the swap if i want an intake for what civic can i buy it and it will fit??? becouse sometimes the civic intakes are cheaper than the sol intakes

 

I don't think "Civic" intakes are cheaper cause it's the same part number for all D series.

You appear to be right again...looks like musclecarclub.com has wrong information on their site because i just found another site that says the same number you say. Trouble is, if the 96 came the the D16Y7, why was it only 106 bhp in the Sol and 115 bhp in the Civic LX, DX? I must figure this out...I am loosing sleep...h:

Because the Civics that used the D16Y7 wre not 115hp. They were 106 just like the del Sol S. The current Civic DX/LX series is 115hp, but that's because they use the D17A1. The D16Y7 is and always was 106hp. No more, no less.
