Okay, I get it now. Thank you all for putting it into perspective, however, my new persppective is rather insulting, but I understand a lot more now. You guys have been great. Thanks.

Your new perspective is rather insulting? Well, why don't you come down to San Antonio Raceway any weekend and I can hand your MR2 it's ass in either one of my Civics. My 1900lb CRX or my 2600lb Coupe. You take your pick. It's simple as that.

Your perspective is insulting? Then why the heck did you come onto a Civic board and try to reform us? That would be like us coming onto a MR2 board and trying to shove a Civic down your throat.

Did you expect a Honda/Acura board to convert? Believe me you're not the first one who has come onto this board and do the exact same thing you did. Personally you didn't come on here to ask why, like someone said you were posting subtle insults at us.

No no no, I am in no way trying to insult. My perspective is that you all just got a civic for your first car, or bought one because it was cheap, then, found out about the huge aftermarket for it. And instead of looking for other cars that might perform better, you jsut modify your current car, which is fine.

That is correct. It is easier for people to just put in some new parts and more cost effective than going out and spending moremoney for a whole new car.

I'm too lazy to read the entire thread, so here goes...

I, myself used to ask the question "Why a Civic?" I then found myself in a situation where I was driving a car that was literally falling apart around me due to previous damage (that was witheld from all parties involved...) and was desperately needing to get out of it for little to no money. I wound up finding my '95 Civic CX and just fell into it... $2246.83 + my P.O.S. Nissan Sentra that I still owed money on... the dealer payed off the car & I basically broke even...

I was looking for a car, but a Civic was not my first choice, not because it is a bad car, but because of the bad "ricer" reputation the majority of Honda (Civic) owners have. I have since seen that there are TONS of performance options available for Honda Civics, and I know there is more to life than driving fast in a straight line. That said, I also know that my Civic will never be a "fast" car, but it is "fast" in it's class (Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, etc.), is lightweight, and with relatively little money spent can be a contender in Auto-X competition.

All that & getting 35-45MPG & having insurance 1/2 that of a 240SX or a Mustang (what I want) is well worth it to me.

this is exactly why i got my car. it was a gift from my grandparents and we went with this car because it got great gas milage (i was in high school and had to drive 20 miles to get to school). i didn't get it for performance. but now that i have it, i want to make it a better performer. and i don't have the means to get a new car.

No matter what you say with this guy, you aren't going to get anywhere, so don't even waste your time. Go back to your MR2 board and wait for some troll with a mustang to come and put you back in your place.
