That's why sleeve type coilovers (besides maybe Ground Control) are soooo hard. It's made for the heavier Integra, but happens to fit on the Civic and del Sol, so they sell them as those springs. Maybe I'm wrong, but check the spring rates for the Integra's and Civic's and they're probably the same.

I don't think crucial had any ill intentions, that's not what I'm saying.

Company's like Aerospeed and APC will make "universal" springs to save on R&D if they even do that.

Here's a prime example. Nobody makes a short shifter that's as short as the del sol's. I'm not talking about throw, but length of the shifter itself. The del Sol has a shorter shifter than the Civic and Integra, but if you buy an aftermarket one for the del Sol, it's the same part number as the Civics which means your new aftermarket shifter is a few inches taller than your stock one which defeates the purpose of have shorter throws.

the purpose of a short throw is not the length of the shifter itself but the distance from the ball in the shifter to the bottom which is actually longer on a short throw. the longer this part is the shorter the throw so the civic short shifter may be longer than the stock delsol one but as long as the bottom part is longer you still have a short throw in your del sol

Actually, the more you increase the overall length of the shifter, the shorter throw gets more and more useless. You can raise the pivot point to increase the throw, but if you increase the length above that point as well, it becomes a wash.

the civic and the del sol usually have the same parts in most cases...like things are listed for applications for 92-00 civic and del sols

That's the problem. Each model should have parts specificaly designed for it. Suspension probably being the most important since it controls how your car behaves under certain situations. Ever hear people complain that the front of their car is higher or lower than the rear? Probably cause their springs were designed for another car but marketed to fit several applications. Use springs that were initially designed for an Integra and what do you get? A tailhappy Civic. Not good if you're a novice driver.

agreed,
sometimes, teg springs are gret for hybrid applications where the b series weighs a tad bit more for the front end.
